Are hope&plum carriers hip healthy and safe to wear?Updated an hour ago

Yes they are!

"Hip healthy babywearing" isn't just buzzwords. This is a real standard.

Pediatric OT Emily Humphries said, "I want a baby carrier to be intuitive for parents to position baby's spine in a neutral, midline position, and their hips supported in an 'M' for healthy spine and hip development."

Our hope&plum carriers are all rigorously tested to meet this expectation and the standards set by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Our goal at hope&plum is also a carrier that is healthy for both the baby and the person wearing the baby. With this being said, our baby carriers are also great for postpartum parents!

When talking about our Lark baby carrier, which is very similar to our Sprout Newborn Carrier, pelvic floor therapist Chrissy Daigle, OTD, OTR/L of Pelvic Solutions, PLLC, stated, "As a pelvic floor therapist, the Lark is one of the few carriers I feel genuinely comfortable recommending. It helps distribute weight across the torso rather than concentrating strain through the lower back and pelvic region, which can make a significant difference for postpartum parents navigating healing tissues, core weakness, or pelvic floor symptoms. Personally, I've found it contributes to less pelvic pressure compared to other babywearing options. For these reasons it's a carrier I confidently recommend to the families I serve."

We are confident in the fact that our baby carriers are both hip healthy for your baby and safe to wear as you recover postpartum! We hope you give us a try.

Always remember, despite our extensive carrier testing, proper use is essential for safe babywearing. We highly recommend reviewing and practicing the recommended carrying techniques that you can find on our social media platforms, scheduling a fit consult, or checking out our blog post on babywearing safety.
